Wen Wen Gan’s Story

Ms. Wen Wen Gan

Volunteer

I remember when I first arrived in Toronto, I was unfamiliar with the city and was introduced by a friend to volunteer in the CEFS Community, I chose to do volunteer work just to enrich myself and make more friends, but I didn’t expect to do volunteer work in the CEFS Community for several years. I usually like to take pictures and record the beautiful moments in my life, so I took the initiative to take photos at community events. It is a social habit for Canadians to volunteer. Many people, like me, may not even ask themselves the question “Why do I volunteer? In fact, there is a lot of truth in the saying “helping people is fun”. I do feel a special joy in helping others. Seeing that my efforts can bring tangible help to others, I deeply feel that some of my own values are realized. My son, who is studying here, is also like me. Although he is busy with his studies now, he still insists on taking time to do volunteer work. I also receive a lot of free help from volunteers in my own life. In the process of helping each other, I feel that I have a grateful heart more and more. I believe that if we treat people with love, we will definitely get unexpected rewards.
